The total distance from Delhi to Kedarnath is approximately 450–500 km, but here’s the catch: you can only drive up to Gaurikund. From there, it’s a 16–18 km uphill trek to the Kedarnath temple.
Both times I went, my Google Maps said 460 km, but due to roadblocks and weather delays, it felt a lot longer. Always factor in buffer time.
Best Delhi to Kedarnath Route by Road in 2025
After trying two routes and speaking to drivers and locals, here’s the most recommended path:
Delhi → Meerut → Muzaffarnagar → Haridwar → Rishikesh → Devprayag → Srinagar → Rudraprayag → Guptkashi → Sonprayag → Gaurikund
- Drive Time: 12–14 hours (if you start by 4 AM)
- Road Conditions: Good till Rishikesh; winding and narrow roads start after Devprayag
- Better Tip: Avoid driving after dark past Rudraprayag. Fog and sharp turns can be dangerous.

- Then a cab or shared ride to Sonprayag

Tip: Try to book a shared taxi at Haridwar station, it’s cheaper if you’re solo.
